The Case for an MBA

The EMBA Compared to Traditional MBA Programs

  • Executive MBA programs vary dramatically from traditional MBA programs
  • Selecting an MBA option takes into account a variety of factors
  • David Howell (EMBA 2012) shares his perspective about the value of an EMBA cohort

I had some initial perceptions of what an MBA program was going to be. And I think I probably put it more in the context of what a traditional undergraduate academic experience is. And I've found the professors to take a much different approach with the EMBA program.

It's an approach that allows me to learn and engage not only from their experiences but also the others in the classroom. So it's not where the grade is the result. It's the professional development that is the result of the instructor's teaching. So I look at an undergraduate as being a very academic experience-- that you just take tests and you learn from the instructor. This is a program where the instructor really engages with the students and forces us to engage with other professionals to really develop ourselves professionally.
